St Patrick's Day - Pubs & Bars in London
St Patrick's Day March 17th.
The date is fast becoming as inscribed on Londoners minds as say Christmas Day or even their own birthdays, such is the excitement generated by it. The Irish though need no excuse to enjoy the craic, drop into any Irish Bar or Pub on any day of the year and there's always a cracking atmosphere.
St Patrick's Day is celebrated all over the world but what do we actually know about him? Well....
*St Patrick is known as the patron saint of Ireland. He wasn’t born Irish, but has become an integral part of Irish heritage, mostly through his service across Ireland during the 5th century.
*St Patrick is best known for driving the snakes from Ireland. It is true there are no snakes in Ireland, but there probably never have been!
*So, why is it celebrated on March 17th? One theory is that this is the day that St. Patrick died. Since the holiday began in Ireland, as the Irish spread out around the world, they took with them their history and celebrations.
