Black Cap London Review
Black Cap is featured in these Guides:
The Black Cap has plenty of seating, lots of space at the bar and big windows over looking the High Street. One really great thing about this pub is it has a large beer garden: lovely for a warm summer’s evening.
Not far from Camden Town tube, there is a friendly chatty atmosphere and no judgments flying around. At this point we should mention that you girlies are unlikely to be harassed in the Black Cap as it appeared to us that all the guys were more interested in each other, if you get the picture
The entrance is rather confusing as the Black Cap has two bars; the Shufflewick and Cabaret. Firstly, the Shufflewick is upstairs, just a normal pub style bar with very horrible carpets and slot machines. It’s open till eleven or twelve on weekends.
Then the Cabaret, a late opening bar with music and some shows. It opens from ten (nine on Sunday) till two Mon-Thurs or three on Fri/Sat.
To be honest we probably won’t be returning to Black Cap except maybe in the summer to gain full advantage of the beer garden.
The Black Cap has been licensed since 1751, when a witch was supposed to brew, quite literally, lethally potent ale. Her parents were hanged for killing a girl by black magic, and people mysteriously disappeared and died when in her company – all in all a landlady not to mess with.
