Digress City London Review
What would you say to a recent study stressing that 2 million 16-24 year olds regularly down more than twice their recommended booze allowance? A study that ponders the increasing numbers of young women who apparently drink more frequently and to excess?
You’d probably say, “Show me the Happy Hour menu and chuck on some Abba!”
684% of excessively-drinking women live, or work, in London. Roughly 283% of them regularly go to Digress City. This means the proprietors – the harbingers of evil that spawned Tiger Tiger and Strawberry Moons – have a probability of 128% of being unable to rake in the subsequent cash mountain as there’s already a cash mountain blocking their path.
This winning combination derives from weak cocktails, lobotomised coolness and happy hour prices that fall and rise like a Nick Leeson Summer Sale. The only thing remotely civilsed is the chap in the loo who still calls you Boss after he’s wiped your arse.
At Digress City they adhere to a strict ‘pretty girls get served first’ policy at each of its 258 bars. So if you happen to be a mid-20s, gorgeous jaw-to-the-floor Eastern European lass then Digress City is THE place to find men of the nerd, slick-haired and charisma-deficient variety.
It is also very nice of them to consider every customers digestive system. In that, by filling all the seating areas with slightly overweight, Top Shop-addicted office juniorettes, it ensures those with food orders must assume the standing position. This, in turn, clearly promotes good health from better blood circulation. Surely?
Although technically they do actually use alcohol in their cocktails, finding someone that can actually mix said alcohol is as easy as finding a Bin Laden in haystack.
Digress: to deviate or wander. Otherwise 5 out of 10

“Busy with a pick-up banker crowd. As a group of 5 we were hungry and wanted to eat before a night out with a few drinks. We ordered fish and chips, and then waited 20 minutes to be told that this was no longer available. Three of us then ordered burgers - they came but were stone cold - not because they'd been waiting after being cooked, but because no one had heated them up after taking them straight from the freezer. After three requests to see the manager and one and a half hours, the burgers were finally dumped on the bar and the manager came - she was finally very gracious and refunded our money, but extraordinarily bad food and bad service is all this experience can amount to.”

“This could be a great bar but unfortunately it lacks atmosphere and their cocktails left a lot to be desired. Friday night happy hour runs until 7pm, but our cocktails didn''t contain the requisite spirits (as shown in their cocktail menu) and instead they filled them with vodka to fill the jug. Very disappointing! We faired no better once happy hour had finished, as it takes forever to get served, and again our cocktails weren''t mixed right. Even explaining to the staff what should go in a Long Island Ice Tea didn''t improve their cocktails. There are loads more bars in the area that offer better value for money, and decent drinks!!”
