Gourmet Burger Kitchen (Fulham) London Review
The Gourmet Burger Kitchen is a restaurant chain devoted simply to premium, top quality burgers. Fresh ingredients delivered first thing each morning, and these include fillers such as avocado, pesto, sweet potato to name but a few - ingredients you would never conceive of placing inside a sesame seed bun. Not just beef burgers either, you could choose chicken, lamb, chorizo, venison or maybe an aubergine and goats cheese burger – vegetarians are more than welcome at The Gourmet Burger Kitchen too, with a range of innovative choices.
You have to admire the New Zealanders that came up with this grandiose scheme. They already have 6 outlets in West London, and the company looks set to expand further as each day customers aged from 7 to 70 jostle to grab the last remaining seats. However, tucking into a £7 ‘Kiwiburger’ (Aberdeen Angus beef, beetroot, egg, pineapple, cheese, salad and relish), your attention is centred more on attempting to keep the ingredients from slipping out of the bun and onto your lap than towards the lunchtime crush.
Clean, stylish, good service and non-smoking, you can hardly fault GBK, just beware of the extra’s, chips at £2, milkshakes at £2.50 and side sauce at £1.25 is where they fleece your wallet. But when in heaven, who cares?
