Bundy BBQ World Cup

BUNDY BBQ WORLD CUP '08
England may be out of the race when it comes to international football this summer but with the launch of the first ever Bundy BBQ World Cup a new kind of masculine rivalry will be descending on the capital. On the 22nd of July, from 11:30am until 4pm teams from London’s bars, restaurants and food and drink magazines will be battling out at the Redback this July to prove their nation's BBQ'ing prowess.
The Australians might think that a long tradition of flaming their bush tucker will give them the edge but those of South African origin would argue that their braaiwood cuisine is far superior. But who knows - the Italians, with their love of dining al fresco, and the English underdogs may just have an outside chance!
Forget Masterchef, Bundy has created a real test of presentation under pressure, speed (no-one likes to be kept waiting when that mouth-watering BBQ smell starts drifting) and cooking skill with regional flair.
Tasked with a set of Bundy rules, each teams will be given a chefs pack of meats, sauces and seasonings and of course a bottle of Australia’s favourite rum, which can be used to create a fantastic marinades or sauces.
All proceeds will go to the Project Polo Bear charity in honour of the iconic Bundy logo and the endangered species that inspired it. The winners will walk away with the very first Bundy BBQ World Cup Trophy, a BBQ and 3 bottles of Bundy to enjoy throughout the summer months.
Bundy rum is available from: Gerry’s of Soho, The Australia Shop, Selfridge’s, Belushi’s, Walkabout and selected sports bars nationwide and online at www.drinkon.com and www.thedrinkshop.com.
