Fluid Foundation has put together a list of both spooky & scary Pubs. From the 'scary' theme pubs that continue to haunt Londoners, to the traditional old pubs of London that have 'real' (honest) ghosts and spirits haunting them, along with pubs that are well, simply just scary. You'll also find some London pubs and bars that are doing something a bit special for Halloween this year.

Overview: St Paul's. Get yourself down to the Bell, Book & Candle - one of the Eerie pubs in London - with reasonably priced drinks for this area of London, the Bell, Book & Candle is a Gothic pub to aim for if you?re into something a little different from the norm.

Overview: Whitechapel. Notorious for its association with the Kray Brothers, it was in the Blind Beggar, back in 1966, that Ronnie Kray shot and murdered a rival gangster, George Cornell.

Black Cap 171 Camden High Street, Camden Town, London, NW1 (Map)

Overview: Camden. The Black Cap has been licensed since 1751, when a witch was supposed to brew, quite literally, lethally potent ale. Her parents were hanged for killing a girl by black magic, and people mysteriously disappeared and died when in her company - all in all a landlady not to mess with.

Overview: Angel. Dating back to the 1800's, the Camden Head is supposed to be haunted, problem is the ghost ducked out of fulfilling its duties back in 1991 - maybe this year it'll return from its holiday and make a reappearance.

Overview: Soho. This heavily Gothic styled bar doesn't rise from the previous evenings death till after the other pubs in the area have closed. The basement is candle lit and decked out all Goth like, with skulls, spider webs and its very own crypt.

Overview: Highgate. The ghost of a former guest of the place called Mother Marnes was once said to haunt the upper gallery of The Gatehouse, a 14th century pub.

Overview: Belgrave Square. Lesson of the day - never cheat. One unlucky officer was caught cheating at cards and subsequently flogged to death. His ghost now haunts the Grenadier keeping a watchful eye on the pubs patrons.

Overview: Golders Green. Part of the Old Bull & Bush dates back to the reign of Charles I and its been haunted by knocks and bumps for years with no one knowing why until the recent discovery of a skeleton and used surgical knives were found in the basement of this pub...

Overview: Islington. Rebuilt in 1829, the Old Queen's Head is still haunted regularly. On the first Sunday of every month the tapping of feet and the rustle of a dress can be heard as the ghost of a small girl runs up the stairs and along the passageway.

Overview: Slough. Given the Royal Stag?s long history, it is not surprising that the pub is reputed to be haunted. A ghostly handprint said to appear on a downstairs windowpane was photographed in 1979 and is currently displayed at the bar. The hand allegedly belongs to a child who died outside in the churchyard while waiting for its drunken father on a dark night.

Overview: Hampstead Heath. Two Spanish brothers built this pub in the 1500's; unfortunately soon after opening The Spaniard they killed each other in a duel over a woman. Surprisingly they don't haunt the pub leaving that to the more illustrious figure of the notorious highwayman Dick Turpin

Overview: Marylebone. The ghost of one Richard Neville is said to haunt the cellars of the Volunteer. He has been seen on many occasions walking through the cellars clearly dressed in surcoat, breeches and lavish stockings.
