Oxford & Cambridge Boat Race 2010: London's Best Bars & Pubs on the River Thames
The Oxford & Cambridge boat race is one of London's greatest and most historic outdoor social gatherings. The first race was staged in 1829 but it was not until 1845 that it was moved to the present stretch of the Thames between Putney and Mortlake. If like 1000's of others you fancy popping down to observe this aquatic class then it is strongly advised not to drive - this area packs out on race day. And besides, why would you want to - this 4 mile stretch of the river Thames offers some of the best riverside pubs and bars in London. In this guide you will find a list of Fluid Foundation's favourite drinking holes from which to survey the battle along the Thames and to make it easier we've put them in order, from the start of the race through to the end. If you're not interested in the Boat Race these are still great Riverside Pubs with fantastic views all year round!
