Electric House, Bar & Brassiere London Review

The Electric Bar & Brassiere is a quaint and trendy venue situated in the heart of Notting Hill. The décor consists of clean white lines and modern furniture and the customers are made up of trendy west London twenty and thirty some things enjoying nights out with friends.

The bar area is not very warm, and the bar staff are, to be honest, a little cold, but if you do visit Electric for drinks try the Electropolitan cocktail - which is blackcurrant-infused vodka, calvados, and apple juice - did the trick for me. Cocktail prices start from £6; beers start from £1.75 and £3.25 for a glass of wine.

Staff in the brassiere are much friendlier, but it can feel a bit claustrophobic, as the tables are so close together.

The Electric Bar can also be loud and intimidating and is definitely not the place to go to if you want to have a cosy meal. It is more suited to small groups.

The food is pleasant. Try the char-grilled Barnsley lamb chops, Lancashire hotpot and mintjus or try the Scotch Rib eye steak served with chips. Prices start from around £10 and can become a bit pricey for a three-course meal.

A brilliant and rather novel feature of the Electric House is that it actually has it’s own cinema, so if you fancy a film after you’ve had a couple of drinks or a bite to eat, make sure you book ahead to avoid disappointment. Gillian Bowen (06 12 2004)

Had breakfast here on Saturday morning and thought it was cool. Less than a tenner for a big fry up which is a bit steep compared to other places but the service and general laid back feel for the place made up for it. Plus the bloody mary's were going down a treat!”
