The Lexington London Review

Fluid London has yet to review The Lexington. Venue managers get in touch to arrange a review

The Lexington London Description

The Lexington is Islington's finest new music venue and lounge bar, here to tie it all together for you with a mix of riotous rock 'n' roll upstairs and a ground floor lounge that we kind of hope might just entice you in and seduce you in a slowburning glow of downbeat decadence and bluesy class - with perhaps just a dash of burlesque elegance thrown in for good measure.

If you're searching for the heart of Saturday night, the Rough Trade pop quiz, or an intimate place to grab a decent bite to eat, kick back to a hand-picked soundtrack of rock 'n' roll, southern-fried soul and speakeasy Americana - without having to shout to hear yourself think, then you might just have found a new home.

The Lexington opened at the end of 2008 and replaces the Clockwork Lounge Bar & Club. Situated in the heart of London's Islington between Kings Cross and Angel station.

Customer Reviews for The Lexington

The following customer reviews are not endorsed by Fluid London and are simply those of users who wish to publish their independent experiences of The Lexington.

“Went to a night in Jan called marmalade to see The Munroes and it turned out that the main act was Sham69 onstage with The Prodigy and The Towers Of London! Didn't see that coming, absolute genius night. There were loads of bands on but the only other 1 I remember was The Blaggers cos the lead singer had a executioners mask on! Bloody brilliant.”

“I went, I really enjoyed the night! The bouncers were friendly, the barstaff knew what they were at, nice crowd of ppl and the music was great. Special offers on beer upstairs, I think it was 3 bottles grolch for 5 quid - dunno if thats every sat night thou. You could describe upstairs as a little bit on the dingey side, but who cares? I'll be going to Clockwork again.”

“I'm trying to decide whther to head to Radioactive man in Clockwork tomorrow night or not so had a google for some reviews. Found this thread.... and it might be just me, but do Philip and Saally's entries look like they've been written of a self-promotion template or what? Dubious.”

“I went to clockwork to watch a mates band and fell in love with this venue. The club is perfect for live bands. Clean bar, friendly staff and a good selection of drinks. Downsides? maybe but I can't rememer any!”

“Clockwork is the place to go when you are in north london. Very good service, chilled beers, good cocktails and a very relaxed atmosphere. Wednesdays are recomended as the music downstairs is superb ranging from world music to alternative and everything in between. Do yourself a favour and check it out!”

““Clockwork is a great live music venue. Last time I went I saw Micah Lei and Bradley from S Club 7 in there as Micah is currently doing secret gigs in the area. He was checking out the The Natives band who stole the show on the night. Amazing gig, great atmosephere..... where's the membership”.”

“Nice venue, nice staff - that is apart from the bouncers who are spectacularly rude, threatening and unhelpful. Spoilt a great night.”

“Totally overted, full of kids and just a cheaper copy of the Salmon and Compass round the corner, just no way as good. They should have kept it as the Finca, a kool latin bar it was before their trendy refurb and the staff are very rude.”

“I went to the Clockwork pub to view a friend’s band and was very disappointed in the Sound Engineers efforts in controlling the sound. Now I know that the bands arrive early to sound check but what ever happen this night did the band no justice. I also think the set up of the stage was crap as the band were stuck in a cramped corner enclosing the sounds causing the drums to become amplified drowning the music. This happened with all three bands that I saw playing. My advice for bands that want to gig in London think twice about the Clockwork.”

“Great pub/club, music wise Sundays you will find Djs, playing Latin, Funky and Deep House music, other nights you get Rock gigs, Chilled out... big variety of drinks and cocktels at reasonable prices. Check the place it is worthy.”

“Clockwork Islington is the hippest live music venue at the moment. Last time I went saw Pete Doherty in there as Babyshambles are doing secret gigs in the area. He was checking out the Vinny Vinny band who stole the show on the night. Great gig, good sound there's a vodka bar downstairs with retro pinball machines and stuff open til 2am. Thursdays are best for gigs under MGriff Promotions and dj stuff happens weekends. ”

“What a great bar and gig venue. This is the kind of place you go to when you want a bit of everything. A chilled out bar downstairs and upstairs - where I went to one of the best gigs in a long time (they're now doing fantastic live rock gigs on Thursdays), split level stage, friendly staff, a dance, a huge selection of beers, vodkas, rums, whiskeys and great music.”

“The first review is so misleading! I checked this joint out on the basis of the author's comments and found it to be totally different. Thursday is hip-hop night at Clockwork and I was expecting this to be bangin', but it was the most dry club I have ever been to - even the old geeza pub around the corner was more lively than this. Crowd non-existant (10 people?) and drinks were a rip at £4-ish for a vodka+coke. Staff really friendly and welcoming though, I must say. I would not recommend this joint to those looking for atmosphere or value. Could be of use as a pre-club bar as it is quiet and friendly with decent music being spun by a DJ, but I would certainly not waste a whole night here.”

“Without a doubt, the capital’s best kept secret, tukai have been bringing the cheeky party experience to their 500+ members in assorted locations across London for 4 years and now they have found a perfect home at The Finca. A glorious 2 floor venue has loads of space and loads of vibe, especially when tukai are working the floors. It always feels like one big house party. The music is slick and fun. And so is their crowd. And with such tasty tunes you can't go wrong. After a storming' Christmas bash, I can't wait to get down and sample the delights of tukai @ The Finca this year.”

Loved

"Totally awesome! Went for a night out in town with friends and after reading the raving reviews, we decided to give Aqua Spirit Bar a try. And, yes - it’s a winner! We all agreed that Aqua is THE place..." Which venue is this?

Hated

"Firstly the location, don't come here unless you like parking at the back of a dodgy industrial estate and hunting for the restaurant amongst blocks of flats. We arrived for our meal and were told there..." Which venue is this?
